You will have to submit a personal statement as part of your application on UCAS. This will be read by the universities and is a chance for you to put across why you are the ideal veterinary candidate.
Break your personal statement up into 3 parts:
- Why do you want to study veterinary medicine and what qualities do you have which make you the ideal candidate? Think about what aspects of your personality make you the ideal candidate? Are you self motivated? Hard working? Can you work well under pressure? Can you work as part of a team? Make sure you can evidence everything you say about yourself.
- What work experience have you done? In this part of your personal statement, write about your work experience and what you saw. In this portion it is good to reference what you researched following your placements and what it taught you about veterinary.
- What do you do in your spare time? In this final part, it is a good idea to talk about your hobbies and interests outside your studies to show you are the ideal, well rounded candidate.
